The Unspoken Power of Small Moments: Finding Divine Love in The Quiet Between Us

We often think life is changed by big events, but sometimes, it’s the smallest moments that completely transform us. In my novel The Quiet Between Us, a tender story celebrating small moments and deep connection, I show how the softest gestures and briefest encounters can transform us completely.

Sometimes, small moments are more important and more powerful than we ever imagine — they can change our entire lives.

This is exactly what happens with Claire. She lives a safe, secure life full of routine. But slowly, small moments lead her to change everything. Only love has the power to transform us so deeply.

Claire tries to explain herself to Artos, saying, "I am never good at timing." She wants to respond to Artos’s feelings but struggles to accept her own truth. In another moment, when they are about to kiss, Claire says, "I don’t know what this is."

Artos replies calmly and confidently, "I know what this is, Claire."

What is love for you?

There are legends built around short moments. Kahlil Gibran shared deeply intimate letters with Mary Haskell, a woman he rarely saw but who deeply shaped his heart and writings. And what about Mevlânâ? What turned him into the Rumi we know today? Was it Şems, or the divine love he saw reflected in his friend’s face? What is the truth?

Are you lucky enough to experience that kind of divine love for another person?

Love is divine. And yes, love is love.

Artos Lane and Claire Miller are examples of this kind of love. You can fall in love with someone for no reason at all. Sometimes, fate places these people in our lives simply so we can love them. Sometimes, you feel it like a breeze that travels from outside your body and finds its final destination in your heart. It makes you shiver. It feels different.

As Claire says, "This feels so different."

Not everyone is lucky enough to find this kind of love in their lifetime. But once you do, even if you lose it, it doesn’t matter — because now you know what divine love feels like.

Your soul and your heart have known it, even if only for a moment. And sometimes, that is enough.

Just like Artos Lane and Claire Miller.
