An Emotional Journey of Grief, Love, and Becoming
The Quiet Between Us is a slow-burning, emotional journey through grief, memory, and the silent spaces where healing begins.
It follows two women — Artos Lane, a photojournalist returning from Istanbul with a fresh start and a silent wound, and Claire Miller, a trauma-focused art therapist whose days are spent helping others speak through silence. One is searching for something real. The other is afraid to follow her heart — unsure of the pull she's beginning to feel.
Artos knows exactly what she feels. She sees Claire, wants her, and waits. But time doesn't wait back.
As the days pass, Claire battles with fear and longing, while Artos carries the deep ache of losing the woman who loved her first — her mother — whose past held more mystery than answers.
Which is harder: losing a mother, or losing the kind of love that might never come again?
Their paths cross in the quiet hallways of a Virginia apartment building — a glance, a shared elevator ride, a garden bench. What begins in silence slowly unfolds into something magnetic, something fragile, something real. A love that dares to grow between two women in the hush of ordinary moments.
Why I Wrote This Book
I wrote this novel from a place of deep reflection. We live in a noisy world, and I wanted to create a space where readers could slow down — and feel seen in the silence.
Grief, memory, longing, unexpected connection… these are themes that have touched my life and, I believe, so many others.
